The brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) microcredential will focus on bridging the gap between neural activity and artificial systems (e.g. robots, computers). This includes three key applications of BCIs: (1) the use of brain activity to interface with software, (2) interfacing with external actuators such as artificial limbs and (3) neuromodulation through the use of closed-loop processing of brain activity, triggering neurofeedback and neurostimulation (e.g. implantable devices for Parkinson’s disease and epilepsy). This module will provide a deep dive into the most commonly used algorithms in signal processing and machine learning for BCI applications.
