The course will give students a foundational understanding of neurostimulation modalities to induce activity in the nervous system for therapeutic and fundamental neuroscience applications. This will include (1) Electrical stimulation (DBS, DCS, ECT), (2) Magnetic stimulation (TMS), (3) Optical stimulation (optogenetics) and (4) sensory stimulation (exploiting natural input channels to the brain). A special emphasis will be placed on using open-science resources and open-source “learning vessels”.
