Mary Kathryn McIntosh received her undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto as well as a certificate in Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Small Business. She entered directly into a PhD in Neuroscience where she focused on the electrophysiology of memory and epilepsy. Her research involved recording and processing electrical neural signals to understand how information is consolidated and how that process is affected by stimulation and epileptic seizures. After her Ph.D. she pursued Medicine at Dalhousie university to apply her training to helping patients in the clinic. As a member of the Prime Minister’s Youth Council and a physician in training she continues to work towards supporting early-career researchers and the pursuit of cures for intractable neurologic disorders.
